Fruiting Bodies

Each species is grown on its optimal substrate. For our insect-loving Cordyceps, this means an organic mix of nutrients (vegan, of course). Mushrooms are harvested at peak maturity, and the substrate is composted after use.

Efficacy

Dual-Extracted

Dr Kyle Thomson (biotech PhD and MYCRO co-founder) leads our extraction lab, the only dedicated fungal biotech facility in Australia.

Traceability

Australian Inputs

All inputs: Cordyceps mushrooms, purified water, sugarcane ethanol and certified organic apple cider vinegar are sourced within Australia, with visibility end to end.

Potency

Full Strength

Each millilitre contains one gram of Cordyceps. The 1:1 ratio preserves bioactive compounds without dilution. All mushrooms are dual-extracted; alcohol is removed from the Zero-Alcohol range.

Choice

Two Formats

The Original range is alcohol-based for maximum solubility and compound availability. The Zero-Alcohol range is alcohol-free and offered for those who avoid alcohol.

What it is

Cordyceps extracted into a liquid form so your body can absorb it quickly and consistently.

A functional mushroom, Cordyceps is best known for supporting energy, stamina, and oxygen utilisation.

In the 1980s, Chinese scientists studying athletes discovered Cordyceps could improve aerobic performance and recovery.

Over the years, researchers identified bioactive compounds like cordycepin and adenosine, which help regulate ATP, the molecule responsible for cellular energy.

Modern studies continue to explore its effects on mitochondrial function and oxygen uptake, showing promising links to endurance and vitality.

What it may do

Cordyceps supports the body’s natural energy systems, particularly how cells produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the molecule that fuels every movement, thought, and heartbeat.
You can think of ATP as your body’s internal battery. Cordyceps doesn’t charge it artificially; it helps your cells use energy more efficiently and recover faster between demands.

Immediately (first few days)
Many people notice a lighter kind of energy, steady instead of spiking, clearer instead of jittery. Some describe easier breathing, better output during exercise, or simply feeling more awake without caffeine. Others notice nothing yet, but deep inside, Cordycepin and Adenosine are beginning to tune mitochondrial function, improving oxygen utilisation and cellular metabolism.

After a few weeks
With regular use, endurance and stamina tend to rise, not by pushing harder, but by wasting less. The body learns to convert oxygen and nutrients into usable energy more effectively. In studies lasting 4–6 weeks, participants using Cordyceps extracts showed measurable improvements in aerobic capacity and fatigue resistance.

Over months of consistent use
Cordyceps continues supporting long-term vitality through balanced cortisol and improved oxygen delivery. Users often describe clearer mornings, faster recovery, and higher work capacity. It builds quietly, less burnout, more bandwidth.

A note on the science
Cordycepin, Adenosine, and related nucleosides interact across multiple cellular pathways. Rather than isolating one stimulant molecule, MYCRO’s dual extraction preserves this full network, letting the compounds cooperate naturally for sustained energy and resilience.

How it is grown

Cordyceps is cultivated at our Western Australian farm under the guidance of George Stone. This facility is Australia's first and largest Cordyceps farm.

Unlike wood-loving species, Cordyceps militaris grows best in a nutrient broth rather than on logs or sawdust. Yet, its origins trace back to one of nature’s most fascinating superfoods: a mushroom that evolved from forest floors to alpine insect hosts, completing its life cycle across living systems.

Our growing process begins with isolated spores that are bred and tested for viability and potency.

The strains are grown on a vegan, organic nutrient broth that mimics the chemical composition of insects; a matrix of Australian brown rice is used for the Cordyceps to grow from. This method of a matrix being used to grow fruiting bodies is not to be confused with the, unfortunately common, practice of growing "myceliated grain".

The Cordyceps are incubated under stable temperature and oxygen conditions, allowing the mycelium to form dense, cordycepin-rich networks, a living reflection of the forest’s quiet productivity.

Once provided the correct conditions for growth, the Cordyceps fruiting bodies protrude from the growing medium and are harvested.

Every batch is traceable from inoculation to extraction, maintaining the full integrity of the Cordyceps life cycle from spore to final extract.

How it is extracted

In our biotech lab, Dr Kyle Thomson and our team fractionate each harvested mushroom; that is, we divide it into distinct chemical groups (fractions) based on solubility, structure, and behavior.

Each fraction is then run through a bespoke extraction method. We carefully adjust: temperature, agitation, dilution, extraction time, and sonication settings, to extract and preserve each class of bioactive compounds without damage.

We avoid concentrating only one compound (e.g. beta-glucans). Instead, after the individual extractions, the fractions are recombined to mirror the natural “full-spectrum” balance found in the mushroom.

For stability and versatility, we use dual-extraction (water + alcohol). Some compounds (like triterpenoids, sterols, flavonoids) are not water-soluble and require alcohol to unlock them.

In our final blend, we maintain a 1:1 extract ratio (i.e. 1000 mg dual-extracted mushroom per mL).

To support consumer needs, we also offer alcohol-free versions. The alcohol is removed (via rotary evaporation), and the extract is stabilised with certified organic apple cider vinegar, instead of glycerin and synthetic preservatives.

Ingredients

All our ingredients are 100% Australian.

Original range ingredients:

  • Cordyceps mushroom (Cordyceps militaris)
  • Alcohol (from sugarcane) (30 % v/v)
  • Purified water

Contains alcohol.

Zero-Alcohol range ingredients:

  • Cordyceps mushroom (Cordyceps militaris)
  • Apple cider vinegar (certified organic)

Dual-extracted then alcohol removed.

Species and strain

Only cultivated Cordyceps militaris produces the true fruiting body used in modern research and safe human consumption.

While several Cordyceps species exist in nature, most are unsuitable for cultivation or supplementation. Cordyceps sinensis, the wild variety native to the Himalayan plateau, cannot be reliably farmed; products sold as C. sinesis are mycelium based.

Cordyceps gunnii, an Australian native species, remains poorly studied and has not been demonstrated to be safe or pharmacologically comparable to C. militaris. For that reason, we do not use it.

Our cultures are pure C. militaris, bred from isolated spores collected from multiple regions around the world. This genetic diversity is critical, it ensures stable fruiting, high cordycepin yield, and resilience across growth cycles.

Every strain we maintain is verified through microscopic and genetic profiling, then tested for fruiting potential before production. This ensures each batch reflects the true, research-validated species behind Cordyceps’ reputation as one of the world’s most functional superfoods.

How to use

In the still of early morning, before the noise begins, shake your Cordyceps bottle and watch the golden sediment lift, a quiet promise of motion.

Draw up one millilitre into the dropper, the liquid catching the first light through the kitchen window.

Add it to cool water, the kind you’d drink after a run or before one.
The extract swirls and fades, turning clear again, like breath finding rhythm.

Drink slowly. Let it settle before the caffeine, before the rush.
This is your ignition, not instant, but steady, built molecule by molecule through the morning.
