We're struggling to keep up with demand for our extracted mushrooms and our fresh mushrooms.

As of June 2024 we're stopped selling fresh mushrooms so that we can focus on the extracts.

However, your local farmers market is more than likely to have a great mushroom farmer that you can support. And many independent grocers and small-chain supermarkets will stock mushrooms from our peers.

Currently, yes, all of our extracts contain alcohol (30% by volume).

However, if you add your daily 1ml dropper-full to a 300ml glass of water, the total alcohol content would 0.01%. A tiny amount but we still wouldn't advise consumption by children, pets, pregnant women or those who have dealt with alcohol addiction in the past.

Alcohol is an essential component of mushroom extraction. Many of the beneficial compounds in mushrooms are alcohol-soluble, opposed to water-soluble and are locked up behind the mushroom's hard-to-digest chitin cell walls.

Our alcohol-based extracts are our first product range. And admittedly the easiest for us to produce. Once the alcohol and water extractions have taken place, they are combined together with mushroom fruiting body and in the case of Lion's Mane then fermented. The alcohol then works as a preservative, making up 30% of the final product, and allowing the bottles to be opened and closed many times.

We will, in the near future, offer alcohol free versions. We are waiting on a large rotary evaporator that can remove the alcohol after extraction. We'll then use something like glycerine (we're searching for an Australian source or alternative!) as the preservative and carrier to offer alcohol-free liquid extracts.

The rotary evaporator will also allow us to produce powder extract, opening doors to many other product variations (think capsules, gummies and so on).
